For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. 1 Timothy 6:10

Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts. But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a fraction of a penny. Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, "I tell you the truth, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything--all she had to live on." Mark 12:41-42
Our greediness came from being sinful. Adam and Eve were greedy because they wanted more knowledge (Knowledge of Good and Evil), so they ate the forbidden fruit. Because they sinned, we are sinful too. I put other things before God all of the time, even though I should be focusing on God.
The solution is to pray to God for help. We cannot solve this problem by ourselves, so we need to pray for healing and forgiveness.
Restoration is a process of healing too. Through the holy spirit, we can learn to follow Christ's example more.
